Board Position Job Descriptions
Executive Board Members: (President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Operational Treasurer, Charitable Treasurer, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Parliamentarian), for job descriptions, see our bylaws.
The following is a BRIEF description of each OOSC board chair position.
Base Liaison: Serves as a liaison between the OOSC membership and several pertinent base programs.
Charitable Chair: Directs the Charitable Committee and reports to the Board of Governors. Researches all requests for charitable donations and makes recommendations to the committee and board.
Hail & Farewell: Welcomes and farewells all spouses to the OOSC, as well as making sure a picture is published in the Heartland Connections.
Heartland Connections Editor: Responsible for publishing nine quality issues of the OOSC magazine. Editor also oversees activities of any staff members.
Historian Chair: Responsible for taking pictures at membership events and maintaining scrapbooks.
Membership: Keeps current records of OOSC membership and makes information available to board members when necessary for performance of their duties, and publishes member directory.
Programs: Plans, arranges, coordinates, and introduces the monthly general membership program.
Public Relations Responsible for releasing news of OOSC functions to all news media and for publicizing organization events and fundraisers.
Reservations Chair: Responsible for taking all function reservations, planning seating arrangements, and distributing door prizes.
Scholarships Chair: Responsible for coordinating all procedures necessary to select winners and present awards to applicants competing for OOSc Charitable Association, Inc. Scholastic Awards.
Social: Plans the monthly function menus, provides decorations, door prizes, and makes other necessary arrangements.
Sunshine: Recognizes OOSC members who are hospitalized for illness, surgery, maternal care, or a death of family member by visitation or gifts as appropriate.
Special Activities Chair: Acts as a liaison between the OOSC Board of Governors and the points of contact of each special activity, such as bunko, antiques, Offuttaires, mah jong, lunch group, etc.
Thrift Shop: Responsible for the overall operation of the Thrift Shop and gives a monthly statement of income at all board meetings.
Ways & Means Chair: Responsible for raising funds for the OOSC Charitable Association, Inc., and presents a monthly financial statement at all board meetings
